SUSTAINABILITY
We envision a world where the best food is accesible to all, reducing the negative impact on the environment and fighting hunger. It's something we hear a lot about. But what is it really? What are we doing to achieve this goal?
We invite you to find out some of our environmental iniciatives, with which we are not only helping the planet, but also collaborating with people.
Programs like Last Minute Meals (LMM) and donations help us to provide quality food to more people. Our program of Zero Waste has the main goal of preventing waste from ending up in the landfill, reducing the negative environmental consequences (land, air and water contamination) and social as well (proliferation of pests, diseases, pollution).
We would like you to be part of this, where we not only help to reduce the environmental impact, but we are also part of the sustainable development of people.

Last Minute Meals (LMM) are meals assembled by chefs with food leftovers after plating, avoiding food going garbage and increasing our DONATIONS!
We know chefs make a big effort to cook just the right amount of servings for our customers, but even then there are always a few leftovers in the kitchen.
To avoid those leftovers going to garbage, we have created the “Last Minute Meals” Program.
In the fight against food waste CookUnity partners with “Too Good To Go” ,the app that lets us rescue surplus meals and ingredients after daily production.
More than 700 meals/month in NY
Eating high quality and high integrity ingredients is a luxury for few and on top of that there is a lot of misinformation and confusion around what is good and what is not.
As we grow we can go directly to farmers and build our own network. With our chef collective, we aspire to create nourishing delicious recipes that use good ingredients for different price segments. We want to leverage the ability our model has to offer more variety than traditionalfood models to offer different standards of ingredients (within certain guardrails and curation) and let customers make their choices.
🎨 Embrace diversity: Our chefs currently use 1000+ different ingredients
🌱 Always source the most sustainable ingredients possible
🛒 Local, Seasonal & Fresh - Organic when possible - no GMO
🍲 Natural: promote less processed ingredients in our meals
🐮 We are working hard to commit sourcing Animal Welfare Certified meat - The compassionate treatment of animals important to us
🐟 We support Sustainable Wild caught and Sustainable Farming - aquaculture
🌲 Choose Regenerative farming over sustainable practices
👣 Zero Carbon Footprint ingredients
🐟 Sustainable Seafood: The sourcing of sustainable seafood is critical. We support Sustainable Wild caught and Sustainable Farming - aquaculture.
🍅 Seasonal Produce: To promote seasonal produce, what nature gives to us naturally. Eating seasonal helps to reduce our environmental footprint and encourages us to enjoy the best produce from each season of the year.
🥦 Organic when possible: Mainly for produce to contribute to soil health, healthier and more flavorful ingredients, and less environmental impact.
🍜 Natural: Promote less processed ingredients in our meals.
🌴Controversial unsustainable ingredients: Some ingredients are produced in a non-sustaible way. Elimination of 100% of them from our ingredients list as banned ingredients is critical when achieving our vision.
🍱 Sustainable and trendy meal category: Promote sustainable options to increase healthy proposals reducing environmental impact.
🔍 True transparency: Right now there is a lot we don't know about the ingredients we source. We want to give customers all the information so they can make their own choices.
Source and develop the most environmentally responsible packaging possible, creating innovative solutions to get the most efficient and sustainable packaging
Vision & Strategy: shipping food in boxes around the country is a horrible solution. Having thousands of kitchens won’t help us solve a core problem we want to solve with CookUnity that is the lack of variety in a daily meal solution. So we need to find an alternative solution. We believe that having local commissary kitchens in the most exciting culinary cities and then ship regionally could enable us to reach most Americans with local couriers. We can become the modern milkman and use reusable packaging and offer customers an opt in option with zero packaging waste.
