Nourishing People and Protecting the Planet
Arla Foods
Arla Foods
Arla Foods is a dairy cooperative owned by 7.600+ European farmers across 7 countries, we are the world’s largest organic dairy producer and sell our products in 164 countries worldwide.
At Arla, we believe that nourishing people and protecting the planet go hand in hand. We are committed to enabling healthier diets and building a more sustainable food system by making nutrient-rich, affordable dairy accessible to more people and by promoting better food environments through innovation, partnerships, and policy engagement. In doing so, we aim to create positive change for consumers and supporting public health as well as planetary boundaries. On the climate side, we're on a Science Based Targets pathway to cut scope 1 & 2 emissions by 63% and scope 3 by 30% by 2030. By 2024, we’d already achieved a 37% scope 1 & 2 reduction, a 13 % scope 3 reduction and cut ~1 million tonnes CO₂e between 2021 & 2023.

Arla’s ambition to make nutrient-rich dairy a part of balanced diets while reducing environmental impact supports both health and planetary boundaries. By combining nutrient density, affordability, and climate action, especially through data-driven tools like FarmAhead™ we are contributing to sustainable food system transformation.
Research shows many people don’t recognize dairy as a natural source of essential nutrients, underlining the need for local education to improve food literacy. Arla Foods addresses this through public-private partnerships in e.g. Nigeria, Bangladesh, and Indonesia, helping build financially, socially, and environmentally sustainable dairy value chains. The key lesson is that combining farm-level training with nutrition education and market access creates a strong, lasting ecosystem, supporting farmers while informing communities about dairy’s health benefits.
Evolving our FarmAhead™ Incentive recognizing that climate action must go hand in hand with biodiversity solutions.
Expanding partnerships and innovation, both within FarmAhead™ Customer Partnerships and beyond, to co-create impactful solutions across the value chain.
Continue motivating and educating, from empowering farmers to take targeted action on their farms to helping consumers make informed, sustainable food choices.
Advancing Arla’s newly launched Feed Life to inspire healthier, more sustainable food choices, strengthen food skills, and position dairy as a cornerstone of global nutrition and food security.
