In 2022, Leanpath supported the Champions 123 group in developing the #123 Pledge – designed to spark action and get new pledge commitments by organizations to reducing food waste by 25% by 2030.
Launched at COP27 in Egypt, Leanpath joined the #123 Pledge, committing to work with our client partners toward preventing an amount of food waste equivalent to 50 million meals by the end of 2025.
We are pleased to note that we have recently achieved this goal, preventing an amount of food waste equivalent to more than 63 million meals since December 2022.
Our commitment to the #123 Pledge aligns perfectly with Strategy 5 of the 2019 EAT-Lancet Commission report, which calls for halving (at least) food loss and waste by 2030 in accordance with Target 12.3 of the SDGs.
At Leanpath we track our impact in terms of pounds of food waste prevented across our global platform each month, and we will reach our #123 Pledge goal on schedule prior to the end of 2025.

The #123 Pledge is a great example of the importance of target setting – in this case, big goals with urgency – to speed progress toward the critical global goal of halving food waste by 2030.
