On Thursday, March 21st, a blood drive was held in the CHS athletics building. The purpose was to help supply blood to hospitals, which will in turn save many lives. The event was organized by Ms. Mason from the Health and Science Department.
“Donating to a blood drive is a great way for students to give back to the community,” Ms. Mason said. “Snacks were provided for any volunteers that attended the event.”
There were many students who showed up for the event. For some, it was their first time donating; for others, it was a regular occurrence.
“I like the idea that my blood is being used to help save another person’s life. It’s nice to feel like you’re actually doing something to help others,” stated a junior who wished to not be named.
Other students were volunteers who aided in the organization of the event. They said the experience was rather enlightening.
“It was nice to see how many people were willing to give their blood to those in need. Makes you feel like there’s hope in the world,” said a senior who also wished to not be named.
Those who have missed their chance to donate last week will have another opportunity Friday, April 4th. Students can also donate to local blood drive organizations such as The Blood Center or Octapharma Plasma. Remember, each time you donate blood, you just may be saving someone’s life. Stay healthy, Tigers!
