Beyond The Classroom: Academic UIL Placements

This year all academic UIL students who were competing and practicing beyond the bells and classrooms, were putting dedication into improving and achieving higher than the academic standard. All students dedicated themselves and showed off their talent to represent the school.

Ready writing is a blend of philosophy, literature and arguments. It needs critical thinking and clear communication writing skills, Christine Welch placed third in this event. She has advanced into regionals and showed her skills all the way through. 

Everyone learns and knows about history, two students showed their knowledge and academic involvement in this competition by answering and analyzing historical questions and documents. Dalton Muster placed first and Ryan Simpson placed fourth. They both did an incredible job and Muster advanced into regionals. 

Mathematics consists of 60 questions that have Algebra l, Geometry, Algebra ll, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, and AP Statistics. Muhammad Ur-Rehman placed fourth in this competition, showing his academic knowledge and showing off his mathematical skills. 

Editorial journalism consists of one prompt and leading quotes. The competitors are supposed to follow a formula while writing an argument that pursues the judges. Abigail Piconada placed fourth in this event. While not advancing, all dedication is recognized.

Headline writing is making headlines for news prompts, this involves fast critical thinking, good understanding, and concise writing skills. Braylen Reagan has placed fifth in this event, showing his academic prowess and dedication to journalism. 

All these students showed growth, dedication and hard working examples that made the school shine. While representing the school and themself, these students worked beyond the classroom, and showed that academics is not always boring, but can be fun in its own way!
