Math

What did I do in math?

For our first term, we started learning units measurement like the Imperial system, SI (International System of Units), and conversions to set up as foundation to support us to learn other concepts like surface area and volume.

Notes for applied pre cal

Surface area and volume notes I took for our most recent test

Learning about surface area and volume

(Props to Avany for doing all the writing and drawing)

SI and Imperial measurements

What did I do good in?

Despite my rough start in applied pre cal, I was able to get the general basics of this term under control. Even short study sessions worked much more effectively than expected and that gave me the oppertunity to understand every problem we had encountered. Another positive that occured this term was asking questions, oddly enough. Even if I don't admit it, I am usually very shy and or "prideful" for lack of a better term, when it comes to asking assistance. But that was before, now I've improved and got the mental stregnth to just merely ask whats going on.

What I need to improve on?

Everything has downsides and I am no stranger to declining math grades. I don't know why but I've gotten so much more lazier, possibly due to the longer weekends has been dramtically damaged my grade, and ego. Notes being the prime target of this laziness. Because of this, I have barely any notes or reminders of what certain concepts and or details mean.

Therefore, I plan to use these moments of slacking to my advantage, by tricking my brain to be more productive, even if it's just a little.

Quarter 2 for math

What did I learn this term?

For this term, we started to amp up our learning and started to to triginometry,  LCM/GCF, factors and primes,  cube roots, exponents, and radicals.

The process of prime factorization

Converting to order radicals

The process of negative exponents and inverse

What did I do good in?

One of my major strengths of this term was improving my questioning skills while doing lessons. Before, I was much more of a silent listener who said I "understood" everything  for the sake of not wanting to ask my classmates because I was too shy to do so. I still do struggle to ask questions to anybody but progress is progress in my book and I plan to enhance this skill even further. Another major up was solving problems on the whiteboard and not just watching the work unfold. I usually prefer to not solving questions on the board primarily because I get very anxious and can't think straight due to the fear of being judged, but I've been slowly breaking out of my shell and started to push myself to actually do something instead of staying back and watching.

What do I need to improve?

Things that I still need work is taking too much pictures and not doing any work after. I'll do my best to stray away from taking pictures of the work we did instead writing it down with my own words but It's just become a bad habit of mine which has resulted a major downfall in my work.  I do hope I can discipline myself into not being lazy and actually write down my notes. Another thing that also needs to work is to my check for understandings more often so I can figure out what we're actually talking about in class.

Quarter 3 Math

What did I learn this term?

For this term, we began expanding our current knowledge about polynomials and started learning about perfect squares, trinomials and perfect square trinomials, differences in squares, and binomial products.

Monomial, Binomial, Trinomial & Polynomials

Perfecting Squaring
