Hello! My name is Jangael Rosales (she/her/hers) and I'm a fourth-year Computer Science student with double minors in American Studies and Psychology at Connecticut College. My current Computer Science interests include Human-Computer Interaction and Data Science! This website is dedicated to my pathway journey! I decided to pursue the Data, Information, & Society pathway because I hope to learn how to know and detect whether the collected or used data is ethical. Through the pathway, it has helped me be intentional with the courses I take, the GLEs I pursue, and how they all connect! Being in this pathway can help me address unethical uses of tech by learning how data is used in any context. After learning about the harmful impacts of technology, I hope to contribute to ways that technology can be used for good and be an advocate for ethical uses of technology. As of right now, I'm exploring how to use data for good by exploring ways it can be used for activism, advocacy, and social justice.
Although I'm a Computer Science student, I have a wide range of other interests that I hope to intersect with my love for technology. I have taken American Studies, Psychology, and Theater courses that have helped me critique and comment on various topics.
As a First-Gen, Low-Income (FGLI) Asian American Student at a Predominately White Institute (PWI) and I also want to take into account the positionality I hold and use it for good.
I want to use all my knowledge and skills through a creative lens, give back to my community, and provide solutions for the social issues I care about through the intersection of technology and other interests!
Below is the work that I have done throughout my academic career. I have taken courses that focus on complicating the American Dream and how it impacts groups of people in the United States. This has slowly introduced me to analyzing social movements, activism, and advocacy! If you want to find more of my projects that shape my pathway journey, refer to the Assignments section!
