DJI Tellos have been known to overheat within minutes, of being on the landing pad. Marcus.C & Shreyas.S have begun work on prototyping & testing different ways to increase the air intake of the drone, ultimately increasing the drones IDLE standby time without overheat protection kicking in.
The solution was to 3D print a baseplate that had the same dimensions as the original DJI baseplate, as well as a wider area to assist with thermal dissipation. It was attached in the same manner as the original DJI baseplate, and tests show that it does have a quantifiable difference in the Tello's temperatures.
