The conclusion should be a few sentences that summarize what you did in the lab. The first sentence should communicate your results and should include percent error or percent yield when calculated. The second sentence should communicate what your data supports in connection with the scientific purpose of the lab.
Sample Conclusion:
The density of an unknown substance was experimentally determined to be 8.9 g/ml with a percent error of –0.7%. These results, along with the reddish brown color of the metal, support that the identity of the substance is copper.
A sample introduction for a lab with the above conclusion:
Identifying an unknown metal from the determination of the density and observations of physical appearance. The mass will be measured using a 0.01 g balance and the volume of the metal will be measured by displacement of water in a graduated cylinder.
