Hello everyone, welcome to Chinese 3!
There will be increased opportunities for self-expression at this level, both orally and in writing. Students continue to learn more complex sentence patterns and grammar. In addition to developing communication skills in various social situations, students also examine and compare the cultural contributions of diverse groups and connect to other disciplines and their communities. At this level, students will start developing or strengthening the ability to question, describe, and express opinions through task-based learning structures.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
• Revisit and enhance four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) learned from
previous Chinese studies within the contexts of Making Appointments, Chinese Studying, School life, Shopping, and Transportation.
• Develop and extend four communicative skills in the contexts of Weather, Dining,
Asking Directions, Birthday Party, and Seeing a doctor.
• Continue to develop Chinese cultural understanding within the contexts mentioned above.
• Continue developing instincts of decoding and reading comprehension by familiarizing Chinese characters, etymology
