Kelsie Lopez
Kelsie Lopez is a Psychology PhD student working in the Plasticity in Neurodevelopment (PINE) Lab and the Music, Imaging, and Neural Dynamics (MIND) Lab at Northeastern University.
She received her B.A. in Psychology from Brown University in 2020 where she studied language development in infancy and childhood. Now during her PhD, she studies the ways in which the early home musical environment can have lasting effects on cognition and behavior, with an additional focus on how music can be used as a tool for resiliency and stress regulation in the face of adverse events. She loves having the opportunity to work with both kids and adolescents in her research and hopes to find ways to improve their developmental outcomes through the use of music. As a first-generation college student from a working-class background, she is also passionate about expanding access to research careers for those from underrepresented backgrounds.
Eliza Epstein
Eliza is a Program Manager at Google specializing in Global Process Excellence. In her role, she enables Google's internal processes to run better, both in terms of speed and quality, and across any domain. Eliza has always worked in process engineering and loves helping workflows reach their most efficient potential; she joined Google 8 years ago from Deloitte Consulting, where she did similar work. With this career trajectory, Eliza is now a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, a senior level of certification in this industry-standard process improvement framework. Eliza trains and consults others on the Six Sigma methodology as well. She especially finds it interesting that this type of thinking can be applied to any process be it a complex process in a large tech company, or a small process that someone encounters in their everyday life, like cooking a meal or getting ready in the morning. Anything can be optimized to both save time and increase satisfaction of the task. She's excited about helping others find their potential interest in this skill set as well, and conducts resume and career coaching as a side business. Eliza strongly credits her love of learning, passion for continuous improvement, and desire to help others, to her time at Concord Academy, a foundational and pivotal period of her life. She still has lifelong friends from high school and advocates for CA wherever she lives, which since growing up in Carlisle has been in Chicago, San Francisco, and now back in Concord with her husband Jeff, and 1 year old baby boy, Ash.
