GRiT strives to inspire and empower more individuals of underrepresented gender identities to confidently engage with the world of STEM. We aim to provide a space in which students feel welcome and comfortable as they explore different fields and learn from successful women and genderqueer individuals in STEM. Through the conference, we hope that students will gain a better understanding of what gender equity looks like in a technological environment and how to promote it, as well as ways become successful in the STEM world.
For our first two years, this conference was referred to as the Women in Technology conference. Last year, we realized that our name did not align with our goal of creating equality for all genders in technology. To better include genderqueer individuals, we opted to change our name to Gender Representation in Tech.
