The official VISTA Member Handbook created by AmeriCorps is a primary resource our program uses for guidance and answers to questions. If you can't find what you're looking for on this site, or if you're in need of more details, the handbook is a great place to start. We suggest using the search feature in your web browser - it's too long to navigate without it!

This page includes a full list of member benefits, including those offered by AmeriCorps VISTA and Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact.

Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact offers VISTA members the MAP benefit through America's Service Commissions. This includes access to mental health counseling among a number of other services. Please familiarize yourself with this benefit and encourage your member to take advantage of this valuable (and free!) resource.

SNAP Supplemental Food Benefits

SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) helps Americans with low incomes to access healthy, nutritious food by stretching out your household food budget. Many AmeriCorps members utilize the SNAP benefit during their term of service, and it can make a HUGE difference in your quality of life.

Please download this PDF form for information on how to apply!

Roommate Connector

The Roommate Connector is a form created by host site sponsors in Minnesota with the goal of allowing AmeriCorps members looking for housing to connect with one another. IAMNCC does not maintain or manage these forms, but supports them as a resource and tool for our members.

This guide is meant to point you in the direction of certain resources that may be beneficial to you specifically as an AmeriCorps member, for someone new to the Iowa & Minnesota region, and for those who are living below the poverty line. VISTA Leaders created this guide based on their own experience and by crowdsourcing ideas from other members. Feel free to share anything you think you should be included!
