COURSE INFORMATION:
This program will prepare students for an entry level job as an HVAC Technician Assistant. The course will cover the basic principles in the following areas:
Intro to HVAC, Trade Mathematics, Basic Electricity, Intro into heating, Intro into Cooling, Intro to air distribution system, Basic Copper and Plastics Piping Practices, Soldering and Brazing and Basic Carbon Steel Piping Practices. Upon completion of this program, students will be able to assist in residential systems installation and be able to perform basic troubleshooting routines on the systems.
*Students will be able to earn NCCER and EPA 608 certifications after completing this course.
Eligibility Criteria:
· 1st time Community Action applicant
· 18 years or older
· Educational Attainment: those with a bachelor's degree or higher cannot be considered
· Must demonstrate an academic need on the Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE), if a high school diploma or the equivalent has been attained
· Preference given to those living in the counties surrounding Travis County (Rural Capital Workforce Area)
· Legally authorized to work in the US
