The Parent Teacher Association’s subgroup “The Parents4Planet” (P4P) is organizing its yearly secondhand bike sale in combination with a “vide-dressing” for the Ecolint La Chataigneraie and local community. Do you have a bike that you don’t use anymore, or you might have grown out of? Or are you searching for a different bike? Look no further, try your luck at the secondhand bike sale and join us in stimulating the circular economy.
Instructions
If you want to sell your bike, you can bring it to the event between 08:45 and 09:15.
Make sure your bike is ready to ride so people can try it out (no flat tires, working brakes etc.).
Other (non-motorized with exception of electric) vehicles like scooters, tricycles and go-karts are also welcome for sale.
If you would like to keep the proceeds, tag your bike with your full name, your telephone number and the price of the bike. Please indicate if Twint is a payment option and if people can contact you by phone during the event for further questions.
If you have a bike you would like to donate to the P4P, please make a tag on which is written “P4P” and inform us when you bring it. Leftover donated bikes will be given to charity by students.
!Buyers are required to come at the end of the event (between 13:00 and 13:15) to collect their proceeds and /or their unsold bikes!

On the scene, there will also be at least one parent volunteer with a passion for and knowledge of bikes to assist and advice you.
Vide-dressing
The P4P is also giving you the chance to pass on clothing (all sizes and gender, all seasons) you no longer need and to find some new fashion treasures during our secondhand clothing sale. The vide-dressing will be set up alongside the bike sale at the same place and time.

🌟
The Food Forest is a project to incorporate many intentions and initiatives around the campus. Not only will it increase biodiversity, but it will provide the community with healthy, fresh foods and improve the soil, and provide flood and drought mitigation. Some Year 12s have taken this on as a CAS project for the DP diploma and with parental and community support, we hope to integrate it in the centenary celebrations.
We are a group of parents who are concerned about the Environment and have come together to take practical steps to build a more ecologically sustainable community at La Châtaigneraie.
We organise events, collections, fundraising and meet to brainstorm about ways to make the school community more sustainable.
If you would like to join this group or support any of our activities, please contact us ptachatp4p@gmail.com !
Winter Sports sale - Edition 2023
On 4th November we held the second Winter sports sale. For the first time we sold items on behalf of parents and the wider Ecolint community. It has been a great success! We sold Winter clothes, skis, snow and ski boots as well as many accessories. We hope to make it even bigger next year. Look out for information on the next event before the Autumn break in 2024. Thank you to everyone who supported and participated in this event!
In 2022/2023, we organized a Winter clothes sale and at the Christmas market a toy and book sale. We also organized a second-hand bike sale at the school.
We have raised a surprising amount of money which we will give to local environmental organizations and build a long term partnership.
Vegetables and fruit that are grown locally are better for the environment as they haven't travelled across the globe. They have a lower carbon footprint. It also helps sustain local farmers and businesses.
Why is it important to eat food that’s in season? Seasonal food is fresher, tastier and more nutritious than food consumed out of season. Even though we would all like to eat strawberries and tomatoes all year round, the best time to eat them is when they can be purchased directly from a local grower shortly after harvest. Seasonal fruit and vegetables produced on local farms are often fresher, as they do not require long distances for transport. They also contain more nutrients when allowed to ripen naturally on their parent plant.

Almost 50% of the food we grow and buy doesn’t get eaten. A massive proportion of that goes directly into landfill. The wasted food rots and produces methane, a greenhouse gas 25 times as potent as CO2at trapping heat in the atmosphere. Almost 8% of greenhouse gases comes from rotting food.
To change that what about starting composting?! Composting is literally making new soil.
If you want to start making compost and a beginner then this site can help you https://www.planetnatural.com/home-composting/
For more information on food waste footprint and climate change, check UN Food and Agriculture Agency webpage: https://www.fao.org/3/bb144e/bb144e.pdf
If you have any tips about to change habits so as to live a more ecologically friendly life then we would welcome them and encourage you to share them with us all!
For example, this could be about changing shopping habits – buying a different type of product or ones that have less packaging. It could also mean repairing things rather than throwing them away and buying new ones. If you have good ideas please let us know!

This location has ESF and ESi instructors, ski and raquette hire – per day or for the season and a range of pistes from 2km green to a challenging 13km red – and a black that I have never dared to try! There is a restaurant, a salle hors sac (picnic roon) and

Col du Marchairuz – a great favourite ! There is no rental here which makes it difficult but find below the list local rental locations. The main run here is towards La Givrine and it is possible, though challenging to ski from one to the other. The slopes are in good condition, undulating rather than steep, especially if you stick to the main route, the only challenge is that you have to turn around and come back – but the pros outweigh that small fact. There are also routes towards Col du Molendruz but I have yet to try those.
