Each June, the PTA organizes the Kermesse International Fair, one of the longest-running traditions at Ecolint. This fun-filled day provides a unique opportunity to raise funds, with 100% of the net proceeds reinvested back into our school community. Ten percent of these funds support student-led humanitarian causes and trips, while the remaining 90% are allocated by the PTA Kermesse Grants Committee.
PTA Kermesse Grants support activities or items that wouldn’t otherwise be covered by the school budget. This year, with the centenary celebrations, we especially encourage applications with a centennial focus. Grants favor applications where:
The proposed activity is a ‘pilot’ to test its benefits and practicalities.
The proposed activity is a new initiative requiring start-up funds.
The proposed item benefits a large number of students.
The proposed activities/items enhance school life (academic, cultural, social) for students and the wider community.
Please note, applications previously funded twice (e.g., a pilot initiative in its first and second years) will generally not be funded for a third year.
There is no minimum amount for requests. The maximum amount that can be approved is one third of the previous year’s Kermesse profits. Projects requesting more than CHF2,000 are generally expected to be cost-shared; please contact the committee coordinators if this is not possible.
The following will not be funded:
Activities or equipment normally funded from the school budget
Student transportation/accommodation for out-of-school events
Salary stipends
Activities benefiting only staff
Any teacher, parent, or student (individual or group) can apply for a grant.
The PTA Kermesse Grants Committee meets in early November to review and discuss applications, making decisions generally by consensus. The committee includes the following:
Voting Members:
Student representatives from primary and secondary school councils
Two parent representatives (one from primary, one from secondary)
Two teacher representatives (one from primary, one from secondary)
Campus Director
PTA Treasurer
Two Kermesse Grants Committee Coordinators (one from primary, one from secondary)
Non-voting Members:
one Primary PTA Leader, one Secondary PTA Leader, or the overall PTA President.
Applicants must provide a project plan, details of the total costs involved, and highlight the expected benefits for the school and its community.
Here is the link to the application form.
Outlast wooden blocks for the primary playground
Shelter for the forest school programme
Friendship bench for the primary school
Public speaking coaching for Y9
Seed funds for Y10 social impact projects
Biodiversity projects on campus
The Student Humanitarian Fund provides matched funds for Secondary School students, up to a maximum of CHF 250 for individual humanitarian projects and CHF 500 for school-organised humanitarian trips. Applications can be made all year round and should be submitted to Sarah Lalaz, La Chât Vice-Principal or relevant CAS mentor. Pre-approved proposals are then voted on by the PTA Elected Officers or those attending the PTA Committee Meeting (depending on the timing of the request).
