There are many lucrative and rewarding careers to choose from... so where to begin?
Students at CISD will work through programming and lesson material to help them choose a career path.... or a few options anyway. We realize that while it is not certain that they know what they want to do with the rest of their life when they are 14 years old, we do place a lot of confidence in their work ethic to get to one of their chosen destinations. And we are here to help them along their journey.
Students will begin in the 8th grade to explore various career options. They may choose a few and figure out what it will require of them in regards to training, degree work, and personal sacrifice. They will also explore the rewards of each career including salary and personal fulfillment. Based on the information they gather, they will begin to formulate a plan for high school and beyond.
High school students will continue working through the thought process of their ideas about their own future. They will be self reflective as to the work they are putting in at the high school level and what that means for their goals. By the time they are seniors, they will have a good idea and plan in place. That may or may not include college, but it will include a career choice of some kind.
Our PLAN for our students as they progress from 8th graders to seniors follows the PHILOSOPHY from The College Board. We will walk together through their recommended steps for exploration as defined in the link in the picture above.
