Day 3 is about something really cool and weird and gross.......CAVE SNOT!!! What is cave snot?!? Well, it’s actually caused by a bacteria in caves. Caves provide a constant environment which means that caves stay pretty constant with their temperature and humidity and so lots of things grow inside caves. But, in some caves something called hydrogen sulfide combines with oxygen, which is what we breath. So, this hydrogen sulfide combines with oxygen and it creates sulfuric acid. Bacteria essentially protect themselves from this sulfuric acid. Some bacteria help etch away stone in caves. Some bacteria help produce crumbly caves called “punk rock”, some bacteria help create crystals and some bacteria drip from the ceilings of caves. This bacteria dripping is slimy and scientists call it snottite, or cave snot. How cool is that? Below are pictures of cave snot!

Option 1: If you received a VBS goody bag, included in your bag was a container of neon slime glue! The best way to use this is like a liquid glue. Pour some on to a paper plate and using a q-tip you can create a picture. Or, print off the coloring sheets here on this site and outline the animals with the glue! Once it dries, turn off the lights and watch the glue GLOW IN THE DARK!
