Day 2 is about rocks and caves! Did you know.........
The world's three longest known cave systems are: Mammoth Cave, Kentucky,USA, 651.8 km (405 mi).
Sistema Sac Actun/Sistema Dos Ojos, Mexico, 319 km (198.2 mi),
Jewel Cave, South Dakota, USA, 267.6 km (166.3 mi).
The deepest known cave is Voronya Cave in Georgia, at 2,197 m (7,208 ft).
Ohio has an amazing cave called the Olentangy Indian Caverns which is only about 20 minutes from here! You can even visit it! Formed millions of years ago by an underground river cutting through solid limestone rock, the caverns offers an exciting excursion into ancient Indian lore with a maze of beautiful winding passages and spacious underground rooms. There is evidence that the Wyandotte Indians used these caverns as a haven from the weather and from their enemies. One of the large rooms contains "Council Rock", used by the Wyandottes. A second level where an underground river is flowing to the Olentangy River has been partially explored but not opened to the public. It is known that the river has formed a lake but its size has not been determined. Many miles of passages have never been explored.
Today's craft will take you on an outside adventure, because the first thing you need to do is find 10 small rocks or pebbles! If you received a VBS goody bag, then we've given you a small white bag to use. If you don't have a VBS goody bag, find a small bag at your house (a brown lunch sack is perfect!). Check out the directions below and have fun playing the game with a partner!
