Discussion Questions:
How do you think the people who received Emily's hair thought and felt?
In this story, how did Emily's actions give hope to others?
How could watching Emily's story help you give hope to someone?
Today's bible verse is from Psalm 71:5 is "O Lord, you alone are my hope." Why do you think this verse says that the Lord alone is our hope?
Sometimes we put our hope in things and people who just don't come through. We might put our hope in friends, hoping to popular, but those friends move on to other people. But JESUS will always be there for us.
Or we might put our hope in our own talents, thinking we're smart enough or strong enough to do everything by ourselves. We might forget that all of our talents come from Jesus.
We love how Jesus is the ONLY one who can truly give us hope!
Preschool Discussion Questions:
What's something that makes you special?
What would it be like not to have any hair?
When people get a sickness called cancer, sometimes they have to take a medicine that makes their hair fall out. Rub your hair like you are shampooing it. Now feel what it's like to rub your knees. That's a little what it feels like to not have hair on your head. Some people don't mind not having hair. But some people feel very sad, sick and hopeless. Emily wants to show that JESUS GIVES US HOPE.
Why do you think Emily wanted to give someone her hair?
Tell about a time when someone gave you a special gift.
Emily gave up something special as a gift to someone who was sad and hopeless. That reminds me of the way God sent his Son, Jesus, as a gift for us. Jesus brought hope because he showed that God loves us! I'm so glad to know that JESUS GIVES US HOPE!
