What to know about cell phones:
The school has a corporate plan operated by Tigo, which we offer during our initial meetings in order to be able to provide you a SIM card depending of the plan of your choice.
It is important to take into account for your trip:
Cell phones are usually cheaper abroad than here in Colombia, therefore, it is important to consider bringing your own cell phone.
Bring a cell phone with open bands.
Have the purchase invoice for the equipment to register the IMEI (this can sometimes be requested by the mobile operator).
The new simcard will be available when you arrive in Medellin.
When your Colombian line is active and installed in the cell phone, you will have 20 days to register the IMEI. For this process, the HR area will ask for the information and we will carry out the process. If you do not register the phone in this time, it will be blocked and it may take 3 business days for the reset process.
Corporate plans have international calls to the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada by dialing 00414 + country code + area code+ phone number (Ex: 00414 + 1 + 310 + 3712049).
Calls to cell phones, landlines in Colombia and text messages are unlimited.
To call a fixed number in Colombia, you must use the code 604 (Medellín), 601 (Bogotá), etc. plus the number, if it is to a mobile number you only require the full number.
All inconveniences, changes or procedures that you wish to carry out, you must do so through HR and we will take care of it through our service advisor.
Important: If your phone works with an E-Sim please let us know. In order to have access to an E-Sim here in Colombia we will have to schedule a virtual meeting with Tigo and do the process to active the E-Sim, you still will have the simcard because is mandatory to get the number. However, to have Data until we are able to get yor E-Sim you can probably consider the usage of Airalo, an app that provides you with access to a temporary E-Sim to have Data.
