Write answers to these questions, then combine them into fluent, expressive sentences and paragraphs for your commentary. This piece should represent your best writing and thinking, and is worth 20 marks.
Paragraph 1:
Which mentor text(s) and supplementary text influenced your piece, and how? What specific elements did you draw from—such as structure, symbolism, language, or tone?
What is the purpose of your piece?
Who is your intended audience? Why did you choose this audience? Why would they be interested in your piece?
What is the mode (ie expository or persuasive essay, journal piece, monologue, speech…,and why was this chosen as the best way to express your ideas?
What is the medium (live, written, electronic, recorded or online) and form of your piece and how does that affect your writing style?
What language features have you chosen to use? What effect do you intend them to have? (Consider syntax, sentence structures, register, imagery, figurative language, tone, specific word choice).
