Google Classrooms

The Parents' Guide to Google Classroom (Cologne Academy - Distance Learning Site)

Every student at Cologne Academy has a Google Suite account assigned to them. This gives them access to Google email, as well as all of the other tools that Google has within its suite. Most importantly, it gives all students access to Google Classroom, which is one of the main tools that your child will be using for distance learning.

When you and your child log into the Google Suite, please click on the 9 dots at the upper right hand corner of the screen to find Google Classroom. Once Google classroom is open, you will notice that your CA student has a Google classroom for every class in their day, including specials, Core Virtue lessons with Ms. Rikki, and any special education services they might have.

The main page of each Google classroom is called the Stream. Teachers may at time post announcements or chats on that page. The primary place for your student's information will be within the tab labeled Classwork. Click on Classwork at the top of the page to access all teacher assignments and activities, as well as the Live Meeting Link that each teacher will use for their direct instruction every day. The Live Meeting Link can be found at the very top of the Classwork page for every single teacher. Meeting links are different for every teacher, so be sure your child logs into the correct class link each day.

Please take the time to view the attached powerpoint for a visual on accessing the Google Suite tools. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us by emailing Erica Bentz at ebentz@cologneacademy.org
