Paradisskolan is a secondary, lower, and upper stages school located in Trollhattan, not far from Gothenburg. We also have an English-Speaking School profile in the building, due to guest workers that work in Trollhättan, from India, Great Britain, and USA. We have approximately 500 pupils and 20 teachers are employed at the secondary school, upper stage. Trollhättan is a municipality of about 58,000 inhabitants.

Trollhättan is famous for SAAB and Volvo Aero. SAAB was closed several years ago and Nevs continued to manufacture cars. GKN is an American company that has taken over Volvo Aero. This means that the city Trollhättan has many guest workers from different countries from India, Germany UK, and the USA. Trollhättan is also famous for its locks, that connects Trollhättan with Gothenburg and the rest of the world. The area around the locks is surrounded with lots of history of Trollhättan. Our school is a lively and dynamic community, in which the pupils have lessons where literature and laptops/iPads are used in their education. Our teaching staff and the people of our supporting departments offer an education that is related to real-life and society. The government in Sweden also decided in 2019 that teachers need to implement digital tools when teaching due to technical development in society. Moreover, Paradisskolan is situated in an area where there are not many immigrants. However, that is changing due to Swedish free choice of school and the result is Paradisskolan has pupils that live in Trollhättan´ s multi-cultural area, which is good and a good opportunity for students with different backgrounds to integrate with native Swedish students.

The motivation to join this project is mainly because Trollhättan is Sweden´s most segregated town and Paradisskolan´s main goal is to work towards integration, both native Swedish and immigrants, to meet halfway and learn more about each other’s culture and background. This way may the students reach an understanding and acceptance for each other's backgrounds. The motivation is to learn from each other and find ways to tackle different obstacles.
