Dr. Carl Alwin Schenck visited the Chapman Timber Company on August 11, 1911, and had these pictures taken to document the operation.  He was from Germany and started the first forestry school in the United States on the Biltmore estate in North Carolina around 1890.  (He succeeded Gifford Pinchot)
