Overview

The Laker Learning Lab (L3) is a student-driven, personalized learning experience born out of ideas, passions, experiences (“incubator experiences”) that students want to pursue through guided and supported partnerships with educators. The L3 team will guide and support students throughout their L3 experiences, but ultimately this is a student-directed experience that requires students to be committed to the work and the learning.

Every L3 experience consists of three phases:

The LAUNCH → Your proposal - what do you want to do?

The LEARN → Your experience! Dig, learn, expand, explore!

The EXHIBIT → Show us & Reflect! We want to celebrate your work.

Once a student proposes their idea they will officially be in the LAUNCH phase. At this point, they will begin working with an L3 advisor to further develop and solidify their idea. The student must then complete the LEARN plan to outline their goals, resources, and schedule. Once the plan is complete, the student will officially embark on their L3 experience, meeting periodically with their advisor to check-in, receive support and feedback. At the end of their L3 experience, the student must demonstrate their learning in the final phase, EXHIBIT, which consists of two parts. The first part is optional; this is an authentic demonstration of the student’s work, which will be planned in advance with the L3 advisor. The second part is required; this is the final assessment, which is a defense of learning that allows the student to reflect upon their work over the course of their L3 experience.
