Building Confident Mathematical Thinkers

At Cogito Academy, we use Eureka Math² to help students develop a deep understanding of mathematics. Rather than simply memorizing procedures, students learn to think critically, solve problems, explain their reasoning, and make meaningful connections between mathematical concepts.

Our goal is to help every child become a confident, capable mathematician by building understanding one step at a time.

🧮 The CRA Approach to Learning Mathematics

Eureka Math² is built around the Concrete-Representational-Abstract (CRA) instructional approach, a research-based method that helps students develop lasting mathematical understanding.

🧱 Concrete

Students begin by using hands-on manipulatives such as cubes, counters, number bonds, fraction strips, and geometric shapes to explore mathematical concepts in a meaningful way.

✏️ Representational

Next, students draw pictures, diagrams, models, or number lines to represent their thinking and make connections between concrete experiences and mathematical ideas.

➕ Abstract

Finally, students apply what they have learned using numbers, symbols, and equations to solve problems independently and explain their reasoning.

By moving through these three stages, students develop a strong conceptual foundation that supports confidence, problem-solving, and long-term success in mathematics.
