Welcome to Cogito Academy!
I'm so glad you're here! Whether you're a current family, a prospective family, or simply visiting to learn more about our school, it's a joy to welcome you to the Cogito Academy community.
This year marks my 15th year in education, and I truly believe that every child has unique gifts, endless potential, and the ability to achieve amazing things. As the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, I have the privilege of supporting both our students and our incredible teachers to ensure every child receives a high-quality, engaging education.
Originally from Connecticut, I have had the opportunity to teach in North Carolina, South Carolina, and even Bahrain. These experiences have strengthened my passion for helping students become confident thinkers, problem-solvers, and lifelong learners while supporting educators in creating meaningful learning experiences.
I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education from East Carolina University and have served in a variety of educational roles, including classroom teacher for grades 3–5, Multilingual Learner (ML) instructor, reading interventionist, Gifted and Talented teacher, MTSS Coordinator, and Literacy Coach. I hold certifications in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Gifted and Talented Education, and Literacy Specialist.
When I'm not at school, you'll usually find me spending time with my husband and our furry (and feathered!) family. We have three wonderful dogs, a chinchilla, and two parakeets that keep life fun and full of adventure! I also love reading, hiking, camping, traveling, and discovering new coffee shops. I believe learning is a lifelong journey, and I strive to foster a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and continuous growth throughout our school.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page. I look forward to partnering with our students, families, and staff to make this an incredible year of learning, growth, and success at Cogito Academy!
