In this unit the students will be learning about routines and safety in the food technology room. Where possible the students will cook each week, especially in the double period. In the week where single periods are scheduled simple food based activiites will occur. All theory and non-practical activities will be stored in Hāpara which is accessed through the website. Students will be encouraged to develop and improve their literacy and after each practical experience they will need to write about their outcome using the sensory descriptors of taste, texture, appearance and aroma. Let’s get started will give students the opportunity to develop existing skills or explore new ones in the foods enviornment.
