You will select an author to study that author’s background / life, works, and criticisms. Basically, you will become an expert! You will read several pieces by the author, so that you can identify patterns within their work. The product of your research will be a website which will include multiple pages of your analysis, research, and even your writing. Your analysis will show how the author shows the AP Literature Enduring Understandings listed below.
CHARACTER: Characters in literature allow readers to study and explore a range of values, beliefs, assumptions, biases, and cultural norms represented by those characters.
SETTING:Setting and the details associated with it not only depict a time and place, but also convey values associated with that setting.
STRUCTURE: The arrangement of the parts and sections of a text, the relationship of the parts to each other, and the sequence in which the text reveals information are all structural choices made by a writer that contribute to the reader’s interpretation of a text.
SPEAKER: A narrator’s or speaker’s perspective controls the details and emphases that affect how readers experience and interpret a text.

When you create your website, it is ESSENTIAL that you give your teacher editing permissions and that you set your privacy setting for anyone to view it.

Author’s Life information - 800 word minimum - 4 source minimum
What critics have said - 1000 word minimum - 2 source minimum
Enduring Understandings in the author’s works - 1600 word minimum
FRQ3 / Analysis of a work you have read- 500 word minimum
Emulation of the author’s style of writing - 650 word minimum
Bibliography page - minimum of 6 sources.
