Working Together for Student Success

Dear Parents and/or Guardians,

Parenting is difficult, with lots of joys and struggles. I want you to know that your child is important to me and working together for their success is vital. If you have any concerns or questions about mental health supports please feel free to reach out to me. I am here to support you too.

CNUSD offers short term School Counseling for elementary students from 1-8 sessions per year. These sessions are confidential. Parent/guardian permission is required, permission slips are not digital and need to be returned promptly to classroom teacher. Sessions are designed to provide students with a caring adult on campus who they can talk to and get a little extra support in a time of need. Reasons kids are referred for School Counseling are divorce or family changes, grief or loss, building confidence, improving peer relationships, improving behavior and managing emotions such as anger, stress and worry. The goal of School Counseling is to support student success here at school. For students with needs outside the scope of School Counseling, an outside referral may be recommended. Please see the Mental Health tab for additional resources.

Parents are welcome to contact me within school hours by phone or by email. My email is kelsey.parish@cnusd.k12.ca.us. If you are interested in your child receiving School Counseling, please reach out to your child's teacher or contact the front office.
