CNUSD offers Elementary School Counseling for all enrolled students in grades TK-6. The Elementary School Counseling Program is delivered by a professional School Counselor with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential and a Master's Degree in the field of School Counseling. Mrs. Parish is the Elementary School Counselor at Highland Elementary School. I am here to work collaboratively with you all to support our Broncos. 

Tier 1 is available to ALL students. As a professional school counselor, I will most often deliver Tier 1 supports through the School Counseling Core curriculum as well as school wide events such as Kindness Week and College Kick-Off. There are 3 domains of school counseling that are to be provided for all students: College/Career Readiness, Personal/Social and Academic. If your class is struggling with a specific need please reach out to me so I can come in to your classroom and support. 

Tier 2 offers direct student intervention services. Interventions include group and/or individual counseling. To make a request for assistance please complete the RFA form or fill out a counseling referral at bit.ly/highlandreferral. CNUSD offers short term school counseling for 1, to a maximum of 8 visits, per school year. The goal of school counseling is to help the student build a positive relationship with a caring adult on campus, and receive support so that the student can be successful at school. It may be recommended that parents who have children/families with needs outside the scope of school counseling practice seek outside behavioral and mental health services. Please discuss the counseling referral with parents prior to filling out the RFA form.
