The Cohort Academy at ERHS offers a guided four year plan to a small cohort of seventy 9th grade students. This four year plan blends in high school and Dual Enrollment courses into the school day so students can earn embedded transferable college credits while meeting high school requirements. One of the student's six classes per semester will be a Dual Enrollment course taught by a Norco College instructor. ERHS saw its pilot cohort of students participating in the Cohort Academy during the 2025-26 school year.
Incoming 9th grade students interested in the c/o 2030 Cohort Academy complete an INTEREST FORM in the spring of their 8th grade year. This allows the Dual Enrollment team to review the student's interest, additional commitments, etc.
The ideal student for Cohort Academy:
Is not in another program (e.g. AVID, Dual Immersion, Puente, STEM, or Umoja) as students in programs have impacted four year plans
Had a middle school GPA of 2.5 - 3.5
Is ready to be independent and take on college courses, working with college instructors
If you are in a program or have an impacted schedule, you can still take Dual Enrollment courses! Most courses are offered online for you to add on in addition to your ERHS courseload.
The specific Dual Enrollment courses each grade are:
9th: GUI-47 Introduction to Career Exploration & MUS-23 History of Rock and Roll
10th: HIS-2 World History Since 1500, PSYC-9 Developmental Psychology, & SOC-1 Introduction to Sociology
11th: HIS-14 African American History, COMM-C1000 Public Speaking, GEG-1 Physical Geography, & GEG-1LPhysical Geography Lab
12th: ENGL-C1000 English Composition, ENGL-C1003 Critical Thinking and Writing, STAT-C1000 Introduction to Statistics, & BIO-10 Life Science Principles
