Performing Arts

We are fortunate to have many staff who are generous with both their time and skills. This means we can offer a comprehensive range of after school clubs. While these are not running under the current circumstances, we look forward to resuming them again very soon.

Dance Clubs:

  • Year 7 Dance Club – Mondays, 1.30-2.05pm in the Dance Studio

  • Let’s Dance (years 9-12) – Mondays, 3-4pm in the Dance Studio

  • Street Dance (all years) – Tuesdays, 3-4pm in the Lutwyche Gym

  • Contemporary Dance (all years) – Wednesdays, 3-4pm in the Dance Studio

  • Ballet (all years) – Thursdays, 1.30-2.05pm in the Dance Studio

  • CNCS Dance Company (by invitation only) – Thursdays, Week A, 3-4pm in the Dance Studio

  • Boys Urban Dance (all years) – Fridays, 10.40-11.40am in the Dance Studio

  • GCSE Dance Rehearsals – Fridays, 3-4pm in the Dance Studio

Drama Clubs:

  • Drama Club – Years 7, 8 and 9 (Mondays 3-4 pm)

  • School Production Rehearsals (Tuesdays + Wednesdays 3-5.30 pm (from Sept-Jan))

All students have the opportunity to audition for the annual production.

Productions in recent years have included Oliver, Little Shop of Horrors, The Tempest, Grease, Billy Elliot, Arabian Nights and Les Miserables. The School Production in 2020 is ‘Wendy and Peter Pan’.

Students of all ages have enjoyed seeing productions of ‘’The Woman in Black”, “Aladdin”, “DNA”, “Machinal” and “Private Peaceful” at local and London theatres.

  • Express GCSE Music – Mondays 3.00 – 5.00 pm

  • String Orchestra – Tuesdays 10.50 – 11.30 am

  • Ukulele Club – Thursdays 1.30 – 2.05 pm

  • Sixth Form Band – Wednesdays 2.05 – 3.00 pm

  • Music Tech Club – Wednesdays 3.15 – 4.00 pm

  • Woodwind Ensemble – Wednesdays 10.40-11.40 am

  • Chamber Choir – Thursdays 10.50 – 11.30 am

  • KS3 Band – Fridays 10.50 – 11.30 am

  • Brass Group – Fridays 1.30 – 2.05 pm

  • KS4 Band – Tuesdays 10.40-11.30 am

All students who are members of our extra-curricular ensembles will be invited to perform at selected events throughout the year. Each year we also have additional events, for example, Newman Voices is performing in the Brighton Festival in 2019. Students who are a member of an extra-curricular ensemble are also invited to join our annual Music Tour.
