Gifted and Talented Courses

GT Mind Works (9th and 10th grades)

Syllabus

GT Mind Works is a semester-long, credit-bearing course to support the unique social, emotional, and academic needs of students identified as gifted/talented. Students will receive academic and social/emotional support while gaining personal awareness and growing in their strengths. Students complete lessons in Understanding Giftedness and their strengths and engage in book studies in choice selections each semester. Current selections include: The Stress Reduction Workbook for Teens, The Executive Functioning Workbook for Teens, The Gifted Teen Survival Guide, and The Perfectionism Workbook.

Students will also receive daily study hall time with the opportunity to work independently or in small groups with academic support such as grade checks, planning, organization, time-management, and study strategies, and weekly goal setting. 

GT Mind Works may be repeated for additional credits. 

GT Studies (11th and 12th grades)

Syllabus

GT Studies is a semester-long, credit-bearing course to support the unique social, emotional, and academic needs of students identified as gifted/talented. Students will receive academic and social/emotional support while gaining personal awareness and growing in their strengths. Students engage in post-secondary planning and aligning their high school experience to their long-term goals. Students will complete media studies in choice areas related to either a strength, interest, or growth area each semester, such as podcasts, videos, and book selections. 

Students will also receive daily study hall time with the opportunity to work independently or in small groups with academic support such as grade checks, focus, motivation, time-management, and study strategies, and weekly goal setting. 

GT Studies may be repeated for additional credits. 

*Students do not need to be enrolled in a GT course to receive Gifted and Talented programming and services.

GT courses are an optional programming component of provided services to help meet the needs of learners.
