About Me

My name is Vanessa Womack. This is my fourth year as Gifted Program Coordinator at CMHS; I love being able to support and advocate for students identified as gifted through the creation of programs and opportunities to help students meet their goals and unique needs.

I was identified as a gifted student in school, but it wasn't until I became a teacher that I began to really understand what tha meant and the many social, emotional and academic struggles common among identified individuals. Knowing how much I could have benefited from this knowledge as a young person fueled a passion for helping gifted students better know themselves, their label(s), and how to navigate the world of being a gifted person.

My undergraduate degree in Religious Studies and History opened the door for me to teach a variety of Social Studies classes, including U.S. History, AP Psychology, World Geography, and GT/AP Human Geography over the years.

I hold a Master of Science in Special Education - Gifted, Talented, and Creative from Arkansas State University.  I have taught gifted students in a variety of both academic courses and classes that focus on social, emotional, and enrichment support.

I am originally from Houston, Texas, and spent 10 years teaching in Dallas, Texas before accomplishing a long-held dream to live in Colorado. I am married to a fellow educator, Bryan, and we love to spend time outdoors enjoying the mountains. I am an avid traveller, hiker, skier, and reader of anything I can get my hands on.
