President’s Report: Courtney welcomed everyone to the meeting. She gave a recap of the inaugural Winter Wonderland event the PTA held in December. Turnout far exceeded expectations. Several people gave positive feedback. The PTA also profited $224 from the pictures. There were also several things learned that could improve the event in future years. This included making a committee to plan the event, having music inside the gym, changing the hot chocolate bar layout and having more offerings, building in a budget for food and increasing the budget for crafts, and working out time for setup to not interfere with after school programs. Because of the very tight budget we went into the year with, the event was a bit limited, but this will hopefully be different in future years.
Treasurer’s Report: Karlee Miller reported that the PTA has a current balance in its bank account of 2792.47. There is $288 that needs to be paid out in reimbursements. Annual dues to NC-PTA have been paid ($315). $62 was also spent on checks.
Vice President’s Report: Erin McGaughnea had an excused absence from the meeting. She created a Signup Genius to get information from people interested in volunteering or planning our Spring events. The link for that signup sheet is here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D4EADAD2FA1F8C07-61959304-spring/103124357
Events for the Spring include Bingo Night on March 12 from 6:30-7:15 in the cafeteria and a Spring Festival with a date to be determined.
The Signup Genius also has a space for people to volunteer to be on the nominating committee to create a slate of people to serve as next year’s PTA Executive Board.
Open Discussion: Dave Hood asked for details about International Night. This is being hosted by the school, not the PTA. Ms Peneva in charge of the event. They are looking for families to volunteer to set up a table for different countries and have games, information, or food that relates to that country. Students will have a “passport” and will try to get a stamp from as many countries as possible.
A few fundraiser ideas were thrown out, including a car rider fundraiser, using Autobell, or selling coffee or donuts in the morning to parents or guardians in the car rider line.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:04 PM.
The next meeting has not yet been scheduled.
