PTA Meeting Minutes 04/28/2026 (Subject to approval at the next meeting)
Winget Park Elementary School PTA
Date: 04/28/2026
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: Gymnasium
Present: Kira Michaw, David Hood, Courtney Ody, Erin McGaughnea, Karlee Miller, Ashley Martin, and many other teachers, parents, guardians, and grandparents who were waiting for the Choir Concert to begin after the meeting ended.
Courtney Ody opened the meeting and welcomed everyone.
Dave presented the minutes from the meeting on 3/25/26. Erin McGaughnea moved to approve the minutes. Karlee Miller seconded. The motion passed.
Courtney gave a recap of the Spring Carnival. Turnout was exceeded and a small profit of $141.90 was made. Generally, feedback has been positive, especially in that there were activities for kids of all ages. It was discussed that if the event happens again next year, having additional food vendors, an additional inflatable, and an earlier start time would be beneficial.
Karlee gave the treasurers report. $3354.18 in the account. There are a few lingering accounts payable items, so the projected end of year balance is $2,773.08. (NOTE: this does not include the $300 appropriated for 5th grade graduation refreshments in new business, so the EOY will likely be closer to 2,475).
An Audit Committee needs to be formed to do an audit of the PTA’s finances for the past year. Karlee and Erin are ineligible to sit on that committee since they are signatories for the bank account. Members interested in volunteering for this committee should email wingetparkpta588@gmail.com.
Erin gave a recap of the year, touching on the Winter Wonderland Festival, Family Bingo Night, and the recent Spring Carnival. She also mentioned the final meeting of the year which will be held virtually on May 27 at 6:30.
Principal Michaw talked about elections for the 2026-27 PTA Executive Board. Nominations should be sent to wingetparkpta588@gmail.com by May 13. Self nominations are acceptable. Ballots will be sent to PTA members on May 15th and are due back by May 26th. The new board will then be announced at the final meeting.
New Business: There was a request made by Deltasha Cunningham, Treasurer I for Winget Park Elementary, for help with funding for refreshments for the 5th grade graduation due to CMS budget issues. In 2025, this cost about $200 and bought cookies, napkins, and a few balloons. Dave recommended the PTA appropriate $300, citing that prices are likely higher than last year, and maybe that would even be enough to buy some cups and 2-liters. Ashley Martin moved to appropriate $300. Erin seconded the motion. A vote was called and the motion passed.
The meeting adjourned at 6:14 PM
Next Meeting: May 27 6:30 PM Virtual
Respectfully submitted,
David Hood
PTA Secretary
