Ms. Jessica Robinson

Ms. Robinson has taught Biology in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for seven years. She has also served as an advocate for students, parents, and teachers. Ms. Robinson earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology (minor in Chemistry), Master’s degree in Teaching Secondary Science and is Currently pursuing a PhD in Student Curriculum & Instruction with a concentration in Urban Education. Her research focuses on mental wellness of educators, trauma-informed practices in K-12 learning, teacher preparation and professional development, and STEM education.
Mrs. Taylor Conner

I am from South Carolina where our motto is “Smiling Faces, Beautiful Places!” A smiling face and a positive, peaceful environment are what I try to provide my students daily. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Biology from Winthrop University. The ability to ignite the love and passion for science led me to the rewarding profession of teaching science. I currently serve as the Science Department Chair and support science teachers through various leadership roles in CMS. I was honored to be selected as the 2020 West Charlotte Teacher of the Year. When I am not researching for innovative ways to teach and explain biological concepts, I enjoy traveling, cooking, walking, and shopping.

Mr. Roach has been a social studies teacher at West Charlotte High School for over 6 years. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education at Rutgers University, NJ and a Masters Degree in Education from The University of North Carolina Charlotte. His interests include reading, watching sports and traveling. His motto is "In order to have success in the classroom, you need a teacher that wants to teach, and students that want to learn !"

Ms. Smith is a graduate of Bennett College where she earned a BA in English. She also earned a Masters in Educational Leadership from Queens University. It is well known that Ms. Smith enjoys traveling. Her other interests include spoken word performances, ethnic studies and coordinating events for students. Her educational motto is "Every Student Deserves a Champion".

Hola! I attended La Universidad de Málaga, Spain, where I received my degree and M.A in Spanish literature and linguistics in addition to studying pedagogy. I taught Spanish as a foreign language at the University of Málaga while I was completing doctoral coursework. I, then, began teaching Spanish literature and linguistics, and French during 10 years at the middle and high school levels in Malaga, Spain. After coming to the United States, I taught Spanish and French for three years at UNC Charlotte and Wingate University. At present, I have been teaching Honors Spanish and IB Spanish at West Charlotte High School since 2019.

Ms. Perry is a proud graduate of Johnson C. Smith University where she earned a B.A. in History. She is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Education at The University of North Carolina Charlotte. Ms. Perry has facilitated and advised several extracurricular activities at West Charlotte including sports, theatre wardrobe and prom advisor . She is currently the Lead Advisor for The West Charlotte Student Government Association.
Ms. Melissa Hinchman

Ms. Hinchman currently serves as Department Chair for the West Charlotte Math Department. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Queens University of Charlotte. Her interests include listening to Podcasts, playing volleyball, trying to keep house plants alive, creating calligraphy and other crafting Items.

Mrs. Chelsea Roberts

Mrs. Roberts is a proud graduate of West Charlotte High School and a former IB scholar. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics & Master of Science in Applied Mathematics from Elizabeth City State University. She has been the IB DP Math teacher for over five years. Her leadership roles include (and have included) Math Department Chair, Math Reach Teacher, IB CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service) Coordinator & National Honor Society Advisor. Mrs. Roberts also serves as collaborator on the IB math curriculum team. When she is not tutoring students, she enjoys spending time with her daughter, couponing and increasing financial literacy awareness.
Ms. Morgan Osburn

Ms. Osburn is an artist and former IB Visual Art Student. Her background includes a BFA in Studio Art, BA Art History, minor in Religious Studies from Randolph College 2018; MFA from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts 2020. She describes her art course as "a thought-provoking course in which students develop analytical skills in problem-solving and divergent thinking, while working towards technical proficiency and confidence as art-makers. Ms. Tennille Smith
IB Psychology HL I & II
Ms. Smith is a veteran social studies teacher who has enjoyed teaching IB Psychology in the IB Diploma Programme for over six years. She is an advocate for social and emotional well being of students. Ms. Smith is also a gymnastics coach and a competitive body builder. When she is not teaching, training or coaching, she enjoys traveling, physical fitness and extreme sports such as skydiving and zip lining.

Coach Copeland who also serves as a Dean of Students, has a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education, a Minor in Athletic Management and a Masters of Arts In Supervision and Administration. Coach Copeland's passion is coaching and playing sports. The motto he instills in his students and athletes is "Never be afraid to ask questions or try harder!"

I grew up in TOGO(WEST AFRICA) a French Speaking Country.I attended UNC-CHARLOTTE graduate School where I obtained my teaching licensures in French(K-12) and Math(6-9) as well as my Masters of Art in Teaching Foreign Language.I am excited to share my love of the French Language with my students.I taught sixth year at Crestdale Middle School ,South Piedmont Community College, Catawba College and I am now in my fourth year of teaching at West Charlotte High School .
Every year I work to improve upon my lessons from the previous year. Conducting classes virtually will be an interesting new challenge but I feel confident in my ability to retain the elements of fun that have helped my students learn and grow in previous years.I am excited to teach your child and share my love of language and culture!
LaDawna Robinson
Mrs. Robinson has been a proud member of the West Charlotte Lion and IB family for eleven years. Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, she developed the mindset that "It takes a village to raise children" and "The best way to avoid failing is to become determined not to fail". Mrs. Robinson's background includes a B.A. in English from Benedict College and an M.A. in Educational Leadership from Queens University of Charlotte. Mrs. Robinson's mission as IB Coordinator is to facilitate an equitable educational program that can improve outcomes for West Charlotte Students. She understands that it was the hard work of other educators with this mission that led to the authorization of West Charlotte High School's first IB Diploma Programme in 2005. In her free time, she looks forward to reading, creative writing, paper crafting, adult doll collecting and watching the Hallmark Channel.
