Frequent Issues
FREQUENT ISSUES AND HOW TO HANDLE
Left Chromebook at home
Contact a family member or someone at home to bring your device to school. If nobody is home and if your teacher has a spare device assigned to them you can use that device for a period. Otherwise, the teacher will assign you paper copies of the assignments.
Left power cord at home
You can try borrowing a power cord from a friend or ask someone at your house to bring your power cord to school. If neither is an option your teacher will give you paper copies of the assignments.
New student needs a Chromebook
Come to the media center one day before school to be issued your device.
Never received a Chromebook
Come to the media center one day before school to be issued your device. If a student isn't able to make it to the media center either a teacher can request a device OR the student can submit a help desk ticket and the device will be left for them at the media center circulation desk.
Chromebook Damage (missing key, broken screen, etc.)
If your device is damaged (missing key, broken screen, etc.) you will need to pay for the repair prior to bringing your device to the media center to be replaced. You can pay for the repair by either going to the front office and paying the financial secretary OR going to www.northmeckvikings.com and click on Online School Payments under Quick Links, then selecting Damaged Technology Device. Once you have paid for the repair you can bring your receipt to the media center to get a replacement device.

Chromebook won't charge
Try using the charging port on the other side of your device (each side of your device has a charging port). If neither ports work try borrowing a friends power cord. If your friends power cord works then it most likely means that your power cord doesn't work. Bring in your old power cord for a replacement. If your friends power cord still doesn't charge your device bring in your device and we will try PowerWashing and/or replacement.
Chromebook won't turn on
Bring your device to the media center. We will see if PowerWashing the device will fix the issue. If it doesn't then we will replace the device.
Dim screen
Bring your device to the media center. We will see if PowerWashing the device will fix the issue. If it doesn't then we will replace the device.
Unable to download items (Chromebook says storage is full)
Bring your device in so we can PowerWash it. This fixes the issue about 90% of the time. If the issue isn't fixed then we will replace the device.
Lost/Stolen Chromebook
Come to the media center before school to see if your device is in the lost of found. If your device hasn't been turned in we will give you the Chromebook number. You can then use that number to look at your friends or group members devices to see if someone picked up yours accidentally. When you report a device lost/stolen we can also flag the device so that nobody can use it and hopefully they will return it to the media center. If you find your device please let us know so we can un-flag it and all you to use it again.
If you lost your device at home (vacation, friends house, work, etc.) you will need to pay for the device. You can pay for the replacement by either going to the front office and paying the financial secretary OR going to www.northmeckvikings.com and click on Online School Payments under Quick Links and then selecting Lost or Stolen Technology Device. Once you have paid for the replacement you can bring your receipt to the media center to get a replacement device.
