Mrs. Lockwood's Page
I am originally from New York and came to Charlotte to attend college at UNCC. I loved Charlotte so much that I never left! My husband and I have two beautiful children, Lyla (3rd grade) and Weston (1st grade) who are both Selwyn Eagles. I love spending time with my family, going to the beach, trying new restaurants/food, exploring new places, and being outdoors. I'm always down for a new adventure!
I ALWAYS knew I wanted to be a teacher. It is in my blood! My dad is a retired high school English teacher and my mom is a retired middle school home economics teacher. My husband even teaches math at Myers Park!
I have a Master of Arts in Teaching and am dual-licensed to teach both regular and special education. This will be my eighteenth year teaching in CMS. I've taught an elementary science lab, 5th grade, and 4th grade in that time frame. This will be my thirteenth year at Selwyn!
In my classroom, all students are held to high expectations. I recognize that all children learn in different ways and I try to figure out what works for each child early on, so I can use that to help them reach their full potential! As a former 5th grader teacher, I know exactly what skills are important for fourth grade students to learn and master before moving on to fifth grade. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you ever have any questions or concerns! Our partnership is vital to your child's success this year!
