Workshops, conferences and any other professional development opportunities taken outside of Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools may be eligible for professional learning credit. Eligible credit can be used towards your NC Educator's license renewal. The following criteria must be met in order for credit processing:
The workshop, conference or other professional development opportunity must align with your job as an educator
A certificate of completion or attendance must be presented after the conclusion of your professional learning in order for credit to be processed. The certificate of completion or attendance must contain the following:
your name
the date(s) of the course or conference
the name of the course or conference
the name of the organization providing the professional development
the number of hours (or time) spent in professional learning
Courses in which you are currently enrolled or future coursework cannot be processed. Coursework must be completed for credit processing.
Professional learning credit cannot be awarded for workshops, conferences or other professional learning opportunities in which you were an instructor or speaker.
Professional learning credit cannot be awarded for scoring national, state or local examinations.
You must do a credit request in MyTalent in order for your outside professional learning opportunity to be processed. Detailed directions regarding how to submit a credit request can be accessed HERE. You must upload your certificate of completion along with your request for processing. Please do a separate request for each course or conference. Requests that contain multiple courses or conferences may result in delayed processing or may be denied.
Please note that the turn around time for credit request processing is usually 7 to 10 business days (during peak times such as late March through June, credit request processing may take up to 10 to 15 business days).
Please contact Tracy D. Creech, PhD if you need additional information.
