Reminders for Arriving on Campus
If you are driving your student to school, you should come in on the front side of the school on Beatties Ford Road and make a right turn onto Celia Street. Please do not attempt to turn left onto Celia, as it causes traffic backup. Then, go to the first entrance to the school on your right, and follow the carpool line to the front of the gym.
All students who are driving should be in the carpool line as well. If student drivers attempt to park in the student lot before going through the carpool line, they will be redirected to the back of the carpool line.
In the carpool line, please have everyone, including your student, stay in the car for screening, temperature checks, and any needed directions to first block.
Should a student pass the screener, but fail the temperature check, the driver will be directed to go to the back of the carpool line and directed to turn off their car heater so that we can get a more accurate reading. Should the student fail the temperature check again, the student will not get out of the car and will be directed to return home.
Students who pass the carpool screeners will leave their cars for the courtyard, where they will grab breakfast if they want it and report directly to their first block class to eat breakfast. Students should wait until seated in their first block classroom before unmasking and eating breakfast.
Students who ride a bus will have their attestation form ready (a copy is on our website) to give the bus driver before boarding. Once bus riders arrive at the school, they will be screened and given a temperature check as they disembark. They will gather beside the bus until all students have been checked, and then released to go to the courtyard to grab breakfast if they want it, and go to their first block class to eat breakfast.
If a bus rider fails the screener or temperature check at the school, they will be escorted to the Covid symptoms room by an administrator, visited by our school nurse, and parents will be notified to come to pick up the student immediately. The other students who were riding the same bus will be led to a holding station and appropriate CMS protocols will be followed for those students, which include notification of parents. As students wait for parents, they will be allowed to have breakfast brought to them and work on their classes, using their chrome books.
Custodial staff will come around to collect trash from breakfast. All hallways are marked with directional arrows that tell students which direction they should walk to get to class and enter and exit the buildings.
Faculty and staff will be in the hallways to ensure all students get to their appropriate classes safely.
Students who arrive after 9:15 should enter through the front of the school, where they will be screened. No parents may enter the building unless under very specific CMS guidelines.
All students and staff MUST wear a mask at all times unless they are eating lunch or breakfast. Violators of this rule and other Covid safety rules will be placed in the auditorium, away from other students to await their parents' arrival at the school for a conference and a trip back home. They will also be suspended from the bus for that afternoon, as violations of safety rules could put others in jeopardy. Further violations will result in increased consequences for insubordination in not following directives.
Middle school lunch has assigned seating, and both middle and high school lunches have seating that is designated six feet apart from other students. Students will be given blue lunch cards in SEL with bar codes on them for lunch time. Students can take a picture of their bar code with their phone to scan at lunch time. This will speed up the line time, and increase the eating time. Students will get copies of schedules in SEL, as well.
Also, there will be times for students to use the restroom other than designated class times. In that case, someone will escort the student to and from the restroom after the teacher calls.
Symptoms Screener & Bus Riders Attestation Form
Bus riders must also complete the Bus Riders Attestation Form to their bus driver every Monday.

What to Bring
Masks
You must wear a mask at all times while on campus, as well as from the moment you step foot on the school bus.
You might want to bring an extra, just in case.
Charged Chromebook
If you bring your charging cable, make sure to label it! You are responsible for the cost of replacement if you misplace or lose your cable. No devices are available to borrow.
Earbuds
You might want to bring an extra pair, just in case! These are essential.
Water Bottle
You are not allowed to drink directly from the water fountains and so we strongly encourage you to bring your own water bottle to refill, as needed.
Attendance
If you are scheduled to be at school on the appropriate rotation and you elect to stay at home and join in via computer, you will still be counted absent, per CMS. View the Remote & In-Person Learning Attendance Guidance for more details.
We are not taking any students into the school who want to change from full remote to in-person learning, per CMS. We are taking students out of the school for full remote learning at this time, only if they meet the CMS specific emergency criteria. If you wish to change to full remote, please email Mrs. Sears and Ms. Warren.
Parking Permits
Breakfast
Upon arrival at school, students will pick up a breakfast from the courtyard and continue to their classroom to eat.
For lunch, students will pick up their meal and continue to a designated area to eat.
One breakfast and one lunch is available daily, at no charge.
Taking PE?
Students should wear comfortable clothing to school so that they can be actively engaged as they will not be dressing out for PE.
Have Medications?
Parents, if your child is coming back to the building on any of those A, B, or C rotations, Nurse Chapman will be at the front of the school, inside the front door, to take your completed medication forms along with the medications on Thursday and Friday, the 18th and 19th between 9 AM and 2 PM. Remember that you can find those medication forms online on the CMS site, and they have to be filled out by you and your student’s doctor before we can accept any medications. Remember that this also includes drugs you may not think about, like Tylenol or Aspirin. If you have any questions, please reach out to Nurse Chapman at 980-240-3174. Thanks!
Tech Issues?
Students with technology issues should continue to complete the Chromebook Reporting Form, even if they are reporting to campus. Mrs. Slater will email the address provided on the form with how to proceed and if the device is in need of repair, a replacement will be brought to the student's current class, if on campus.
Please note that no Chromebooks will be provided if a student forgets their device. All student work will still be completed on the Chromebook while on campus and thus, it is necessary that students bring their charged school-issued Chromebook to campus (no other devices are allowed). If a student's device is not charged, there are also no charging cables available for students to borrow. If students bring their own cable, please make sure to label it as misplaced or lost charging cables will incur a charge for replacement.
If a student who reports in person does not have a new G8 Chromebook (distributed beginning 12/12/20), the student may complete the Chromebook Reporting Form and state that they are in need of a new device and one will be brought to their classroom. If requested when the student's rotation is not reporting in person, still complete the form and Mrs. Slater will be in touch with how to receive a new device.
What's Up With February 23rd?
On February 23rd, our Northwest Juniors and some other students who have already been contacted will be taking the ACT on campus. Students in grades 9, 10, and 12 will stay home and will be going to class via their computers for a day of asynchronous learning. All middle school students scheduled to be in school that week will still be coming to school and having classes as usual on the 23rd.
