Dear Fourth Graders and Parents,
Welcome to fourth grade! We are so happy you are in fourth grade this year at Nations Ford Elementary School!
I hope you are excited to begin fourth grade because this will be a fun, fabulous and fascinating year of learning! Throughout the year, we will strengthen and expand our skills as readers, writers and mathematicians as we tackle new concepts and challenges in all academic areas. We will read, discuss and write about informational and literary texts. In social studies, we will explore the history of North Carolina. Get ready to be challenged as we learn more about place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, rounding, geometry and more! Science experiments involving force and motion, rocks and minerals, fossils and magnets and electricity will light up your mind and imagination. These are just a few of the interesting and captivating experiences awaiting you in the year ahead!
In preparation for a successful year, I ask that you kindly purchase the attached list of supplies for school. Coming to class prepared to learn with these supplies is crucial in order to have a successful fourth grade year.
Please remember to bring all of your supplies on the first day of school, Monday, August 29th, 2016. This will help us get organized so we can dive right into learning. I would also like you to bring two additional items on the first day – your favorite summer reading book and your completed summer reading log given to each of you as you left school next year. This will provide us with the opportunity to exchange ideas about the awesome books we read over the summer and give us ideas of some cool books we might want to read in the months ahead. At the same time, we can enjoy getting acquainted with new friends and reacquainted with old friends.
Most importantly, please remember to bring your enthusiasm for learning, a positive attitude, sense of humor, caring heart and willingness to work hard. With these qualities in place, we can accomplish fantastic feats in fourth grade! We can’t wait to get started!
