Literacy
Caesar’s English I teaches children important vocabulary while giving them wide-ranging insight into the ancient world and its contributions to our lives, including the language of the ancient Romans: Latin, which is the foundation of modern academic English.
The lessons are based on Latin stems and lists of nonfiction words made from those stems, as well as lists of classic words. There are analogies, synonyms, antonyms, and word puzzles.
Building Language provides an introduction to Latin stems as the basis for much of the English language. Using the analogy of the arch in architecture, the book explores the Roman roots of our buildings and the Latin roots of our language.
The book contains a substantial introductory section, which is followed by ten lessons, each one introducing an important Latin stem. Together, these lessons show young students that big words aren’t necessarily hard. The stems provide an intellectual key that opens the door for children to a new world of understanding language.
