Hispanic Heritage Month Resources worth checking out:
Our MHES Library: books highlighting Hispanic authors/illustrators, culture, and history will be on display in the library throughout the month. You’re welcome to stop by and browse/check out these resources.
National Hispanic Heritage Month official site: There are videos and audio resources, a compilation of teacher resources and lesson plans for every subject you can imagine, and so much more. This is a great resource! https://www.hispanicheritagemonth.gov/
The Smithsonian Institution: As you scroll down through this page, you’ll see information about displays and exhibitions at the National Museum of American History, most of which have online elements that allow you to explore the museum without being there. Many videos and articles are also listed on this site.
From PBS, a list of picture books celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (we have several of these in the library – if one you want to read is not available, you can try Sora or the NC Kids Digital Library): https://www.pbs.org/parents/thrive/11-picture-books-that-celebrate-hispanic-heritage
Charlotte Hispanic Heritage Festival of the Carolinas: This immersive family festival is held at Truist Field, home of the Charlotte Knights.
15 Activities to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month from Oprah Daily: This is a really fun list of activities ranging from making a playlist of Hispanic music to play in the classroom to taking a virtual tour of Mexican pyramids to playing popular games. Some are more easily adapted to the classroom than others, but it’s a great list for enjoying Hispanic culture outside of school, too.
