Scholarships & Financial Aid
If you have received a scholarship, please forward a copy of the award letter to Ms. Van Lauwe at brianne1.vanlauwe@cms.k12.nc.us. Without this documentation, unfortunately, we cannot record the scholarship and we want to make sure you are recognized! Information should be turned in even if you do not plan on accepting the award or attending that particular college.

Scholarships
Charlotte Alumnae Chapter of Delta Theta Sigma Scholarships
Multiple scholarships are available for African American males and females. The deadline is February 29. https://charlottedst.org/signature/scholarships/
Hispanic Scholarship Fund
Every year, HSF selects 10,000 outstanding students as HSF Scholars from a broad and talented pool of applicants. HSF Scholars have access to a full range of invaluable Scholar Support Services, including career services, mentorship, leadership development, knowledge building, and wellness training. HSF awards more than $30 million in Scholarships annually and, depending upon available funds, HSF Scholars may also be eligible to receive a scholarship, which range from $500-$5,000 and are awarded directly to students.
Eligibility:
Must be of Hispanic heritage
U.S. citizen, permanent legal resident, or DACA
Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for high school students; minimum of 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for college and graduate students
Plan to enroll full-time in an accredited, public or not-for-profit, four-year university, or graduate school, in the U.S., for the 2024-2025 academic year
Submit the FAFSA or state-based financial aid forms (if applicable)

NC Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarships- Each of the 3 scholarships below are for $2,000 and the deadline to apply is March 1.
The Eunice Riggins Memorial Scholarship is open to any young woman who is currently graduating from an accredited public high school in North Carolina that follows the NC Standard Course of Study and who expects to enroll in a four-year college or university in North Carolina next fall. Specific eligibility requirements are: Academic rank in top 10% of class, Minimum SAT score of 1220 or ACT composite score of 25, good character and participation in extra-curricular activities (school and community). Financial need is not the primary consideration.
Eunice Riggins Memorial Scholarship 2024 Application
The Mary Rose Mills-Linda Rankin Memorial Scholarship is open to any student who is currently graduating from an accredited public high school in North Carolina that follows the NC Standard Course of Study and who expects to enroll in a four-year college or university next fall. Specific eligibility requirements are: Academic rank in top 10% of class, Minimum SAT score of 1290 or ACT composite score of 27, good character and participation in extra-curricular activities (school and community). Financial need is not the primary consideration.
Mary Rose Mills - Linda Rankin Memorial Scholarship 2024 Application
The Clare Johnson Marley-Mary Earle Berger Fine Arts Scholarship is open to any student who is currently graduating from an accredited public high school in North Carolina that follows the NC Standard Course of Study and who expects to enroll in a four-year college or university next fall, and who is declaring his/her major in an area of the fine arts. Specific eligibility requirements are: Academic rank in top 20% of class, Minimum SAT score of 1220 or ACT composite score of 25, good character and participation in extra-curricular activities (school and community). Financial need is not the primary consideration. (Samples of talent are required to be submitted with the application.)

The Pearl Scholarship
The Psi Mu Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc, has 4 $1500 Pearl Scholarships for minority female students (3 academic based and 1 character based). Deadline to apply is March 15. More info & application here.
RLE Go Fore It! Foundation Scholarships
Annual merit scholarships for high school seniors awarding one scholarship for $1000 to a graduating student planning to attend a college or university in the fall, and two scholarships for $500 each to students planning to pursue trade school/certifications. Students can apply for the scholarship at www.GoForeItUSA.com from December 1, 2023 to March 1, 2024. The scholarship will recognize students who exhibit outstanding leadership and continued engagement with the community. Full criteria for the scholarship can be found on the website.
SECU People Helping People Scholarship
The $10,000 ($1250 per semester for 4 years) State Employees' Credit Union "People Helping People" Scholarship will be awarded to 33 CMS students this year. Applicants must be a SECU member or eligible for membership through a parent/guardian, a NC resident eligible for in-state tuition, accepted to attend one of the 16 UNC system universities as a full-time undergraduate student in Fall 2024 by the time you apply, have a 2.5 or higher unweighted high school GPA, exhibited leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement, and filed the FAFSA. Please see the attachments below for more information and step-by-step application instructions. You will submit all components of your application online and then will receive an email with your completed application packet. You must email this packet to brianne1.vanlauwe@cms.k12.nc.us by 11:59PM on Thursday, February 22, 2024 to be considered for the scholarship.
