CPCC Graduation

It is very important that students finishing an associate's degree apply for graduation with CPCC. Even if a student chooses not to attend CPCC's graduation ceremony, a graduation application must be completed. This is what notifies CPCC to verify that the degree has been completed and print on the transcript that the degree was completed. The line on the transcript is what the university you transfer to will look for in order to apply the general education waiver that is part of the articulation agreement with UNC system schools. Without this, the university will evaluate your courses individually and will likely require you to take general education requirements that would otherwise have been waived through completion of the degree.

GRADUATION STEPS

Step 1: See an advisor. It's recommended you meet with a CPCC advisor during the semester prior to your final semester to verify that you will complete the requirements for the degree.

Step 2: Apply! The semester you will finish your degree, you need to apply for graduation. To do this, log in to MyCollege, go to Graduation Overview, make sure you are enrolled under the correct degree, and click on the Apply link. If your program of study is incorrect, email Ms. Van Lauwe to ask to be changed to the correct program.

Step 3: Watch your CPCC email for a response from your CPCC graduation analyst providing your graduation status. Please allow a minimum of 6-8 weeks. They will tell you that they don't have your final high school transcript on file yet. Please reply and tell them that you are a Levine Middle College High School student and that your school counselor will submit your final high school transcript after our high school graduation.

Step 4: Print your order form. If you qualify for graduation, you will receive an order form for your degree attached to the notification email. Print this out, complete and return it with $20 to the cashiers office. Your degree will be mailed approximately 8 weeks after the end of the term.

Step 5: Request your transcripts (transfer students) from Student Records using the paper transcript request form. Check "Hold for Degree". This form may be found online on the Graduation Website. https://www.cpcc.edu/graduation/forms

Step 6: Watch your CPCC email for commencement details including dates, times, and cap & gown purchasing information.

Should you have any questions about the process, please contact the Graduation Office at 704-330-6312.

Summer Grads

If you’re finishing your degree in the summer and have 6 or fewer credit hours to take in the summer, you can attend CPCC's spring graduation ceremoney. You should apply as a summer grad (this option will be available starting April 1). If you want to attend CPCC’s spring graduation ceremony, email Lisa Hlastala lisa.hlastala@cpcc.edu and tell her you’re completing your degree in the summer and want to attend graduation. She’ll send you the information you’ll need for that. Summer grads will have their names called and walk across the stage at the ceremony, but won’t have their names printed in the program.
