WORK-BASED LEARNING
Students who identify their CTE pathway will be part of a select group of students who will be chosen first for internships (both paid and unpaid), mentoring, apprenticeship, and job shadow opportunities.
CERTIFICATION
Being a Career and Technical Education Concentrator allows students to complete the WorkKeys assessment, which provides a career and college readiness industry certification upon successful completion. In addition to the WorkKeys industry certification these students will be eligible for additional certification in their career track.
CAREER ENDORSEMENT ON HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA
If students are CTE Concentrators, gain a GPA of 2.6 or higher unweighted and at least one industry credential: WorkKeys CRC at Silver level or above or another industry credential aligned with a CTE course of study, and complete four years of Math (including Math I, II, III and a fourth mathematics) then they will have a Career Endorsement on their High School Diploma after graduation (North Carolina State Board of Education, 2016).
CTE CONCENTRATOR
Hopewell High School offers many opportunities for students to get closer to their career goals. One of these ways is to become a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Concentrator.
A CTE Concentrator is a student who has earned two or more technical credits in a Career Cluster, at least one of which is a "completer" or second level course. If you are interested in achieving this goal and participating in our WorkKeys assessment speak to your Career Development Coordinator (CDC).
