Sophomore Year Planning

  • Begin the conversation with your parents/guardians about what you want to do after high school.

    • Are you planning on attending a four year college/university?

    • Are you planning on attending a community college first then transferring to a four year college/university?

    • Are you planning on getting an associates degree at a community college?

    • Are you planning on going into the military?

    • Are you planning on going to straight into the workforce?

  • Discover your passions and interests.

  • Do some career and personality surveys.

  • Attend local or regional college fairs.

  • Talk to your school counselor during registration to make sure that the classes you are taking are realistic for you ability and aligned with your post-secondary plans.

  • Make sure you are doing the best in all of your classes...Your transcript begins day one of your high school career.

  • Get involved with extracurricular activities. Begin your resume and keep an ongoing list throughout high school. It can be hard to remember when you are a senior what you did as a freshman!
